The Information Governance and Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its legal and regulatory obligations in relation to data protection, and for helping the business follow good records management practice. The team manages complex and high-volume data protection requests, queries and complaints, handles requests under the SRA's Transparency Code (Freedom of Information Act) and provides advice on records management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal with information governance and compliance matters, primarily handling complex and high-volume requests under data protection legislation and the SRA's Transparency Code.
- Act as a key contact for data protection and information governance across the organisation.
- Support colleagues in handling complex disclosure matters and join projects where advice and support are required.
- Raise the profile of Information Governance and increase awareness of data protection across the organisation.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness sessions, and create policies, procedures and guidance.
- Assist the DPO’s wider team in all aspects of information governance and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Working experience processing complex data subject requests and freedom of information requests.
- Excellent knowledge of Information Governance and relevant legislation (DPA 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act EU and UK GDPR, FOIA 2000).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality written work.
- Ability to research, review, analyse and present legal information.
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative, seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Good level of IT skills and experience using Microsoft O365 applications and tools.
