Job title: Regional Estimator Salary: £40-45,000 (dependent on experience) Home-based with some travel across the UK Reporting to: Group Commercial Director (with daily operational coordination alongside the Regional Commercial Manager) About the role: The Regional Estimator is a core commercial and technical position focused on pricing accuracy, subcontractor engagement, and pipeline intelligence. Working directly alongside the Regional Commercial Manager (RCM), you will manage the incoming flow of tender requests from subcontractors (solar and roofing contractors) bidding on developments where Solfit is specified. This role combines software-driven estimating using predefined pricing frameworks with active follow-ups to track tender outcomes. By staying in regular contact with bidding contractors, you will provide critical updates on project timelines and win/loss status, ensuring our stock forecasting and UK supply chain remain accurate. Key responsibilities: Estimating & Pricing Governance Software costings: Utilise Solfit’s automated and proprietary pricing software to produce rapid, accurate, and standardised costings for incoming subcontractor tender requests. Commercial frameworks: Apply approved, predetermined group pricing rates, matrix frameworks, inclusions, and exclusions. Escalate any non-standard pricing requests or discount requirements directly to the Commercial Director for sign-off. Standardised layouts: Work with established housebuilder standard house-type designs to quickly align costings to contractor tender enquiries. Subcontractor Tracking & Pipeline Intelligence Proactive follow-ups: Maintain regular contact with bidding subcontractors post-quote to track their tender progress, establish project start dates, and identify winning contractors. Pipeline data hygiene: Log live feedback, project timelines, and win/loss outcomes directly into the CRM system as part of the daily workflow to ensure total commercial visibility. Supply chain support: Feed accurate conversion data and expected project start dates into the wider team to support UK inventory planning and component ordering forecasting. Commercial & Technical Coordination (RCM Partnership) RCM collaboration: Work together with the Regional Commercial Manager (RCM) to prioritise incoming tender workloads and align on client submission deadlines. Gatekeeping design resource: Ensure tender requests are priced using standard software frameworks and only escalate projects to the internal Technical & Design team once a contractor has confirmed site acquisition. Services identification: Highlight opportunities where bidding contractors may benefit from Solfit Services (e.g., technical support, contractor onboarding, quality audits, or compliance handover packs). Required Experience & Knowledge Electrical background (preferred): Solid foundational understanding of residential electrical systems, commercial electrical contracting, or electrical estimating framework principles. New-build supply chain: Clear understanding of how the residential new-build supply chain operates, specifically how manufacturer specifications flow down into subcontractor tenders and distribution channels. Solar PV knowledge (preferred): Prior experience in solar PV estimating or system configuration is preferable, though full technical and software training will be provided. Skills & Attributes Methodical & organised: Strong attention to numerical detail and drawing interpretation, paired with an organised approach to managing multiple live quotes. Proactive communicator: Comfortable picking up the phone to build rapport with subcontractor pricing teams, ask direct questions about tender progress, and gather pipeline intelligence. Systems & CRM literate: Adaptable to proprietary pricing platforms and disciplined in keeping CRM notes and project stages up to date. Home-office self-starter: Ability to work autonomously from a home-office desk without requiring constant physical supervision.
