The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes. We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world‑class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK’s clean‑energy future.

You will provide overall leadership for diaphragm wall and soil‑mixing works on a major infrastructure project, with accountability for safe, high‑quality and commercially successful delivery within an NEC4 Alliance environment. The role integrates technical delivery, site operations, programme, commercial and contractual performance, while providing strong leadership to multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivery & Integration: Lead and integrate operations, design, plant, procurement and commercial functions for D‑Wall and soil‑mixing works, setting clear standards, governance and performance expectations.
  • Leadership & Culture: Set the vision, behaviours and leadership standards for the team; develop capability and succession; manage formal people processes where required; act as a senior client and alliance interface.
  • Safety & Quality: Champion a Zero Harm culture, sponsor significant investigations, assure learning and corrective action closure, and define safety and quality strategies, KPIs and assurance regimes.
  • Programme, Productivity & Commercial: Own the master programme, productivity targets and commercial strategy; control critical path and float; lead forecasting, CVR, compensation events and negotiations; resolve disputes and drive value.
  • Contractual & Alliance: Provide contractual leadership under NEC4 Option C, chair risk‑reduction meetings, manage change and claims, interface with the Alliance Board/Core Group, and ensure obligations are flowed down.

What We’re Looking For

  • Essential
    • Senior project or construction leadership experience (typically 8+ years) within major construction or infrastructure environments
    • Strong understanding of ground‑engineering delivery, including diaphragm walls and soil mixing
    • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and govern programme, commercial and integrated delivery performance
    • Solid NEC contract experience (NEC4 preferred) and strong client/stakeholder management capability
    • CSCS and SMSTS (or equivalent)
  • Desirable
    • Formal leadership or management qualification
    • NEC4 accreditation and/or advanced safety or leadership training
    • Experience working within an alliance delivery model
    • Strong commercial acumen, including CVR and earned value
    • Proficiency in project controls and reporting tools (e.g. P6/MS Project, CEMAR, Power BI)

When you join the world’s largest specialist geotechnical contractor, you’re part of an international community of over 10,000 experts, based in 31 countries around the world. As well as being part of a landmark project and working in a collaborative alliance environment, we offer:

  • Discretionary annual bonus (based on personal/project performance)
