The Role
We’re looking for a Procurement Manager to lead our procurement function and keep things running smoothly across the business. Based in our Leeds office (with up to 2 days hybrid working), you’ll play a key role in making sure sites get what they need—on time, at the right price, and to the right standard. This is a varied role where you’ll manage a small team, build strong supplier relationships, and help us continue improving how we work, including supporting our sustainability goals.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and supporting the procurement team, you will be responsible for allocating work and developing others, alongside managing day‑to‑day purchasing – sourcing quotes, negotiating prices and placing orders.
- You’ll work closely with our site teams to support their requirements, including logistics and technical queries, and attending contract start‑up meetings and helping set projects up for success.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers is key, and you will lead this, along with negotiating rates, terms, and service levels, and identifying new suppliers, supplier capability and standards, together with opportunities for innovation and better value.
- You’ll also be responsible for maintaining and developing our supplier and subcontractor database.
- Team work is important and you will collaborate in a fast paced environment with internal teams (Accounts, Estimating, Operations, Plant, Resources, Lab) with procurement queries, and take part in wider procurement forums and develop and implement ideas for improvement.
- Driving improvements in procurement systems and processes, including HARMONY, you will support sustainability initiatives in line with our environmental plan.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Experience in the construction industry (or similar).
- Previous experience leading or supporting a team.
- Strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong customer focus that works in accordance with our Values.
- Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with sites, suppliers and colleagues.
- Well organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
- A team player with a flexible, hands‑on approach.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards it) is preferable, and experience using procurement systems (for example HARMONY) is required.
