The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.

We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. The Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration activities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the finance team in ensuring timely reporting, reconciliations, and audit readiness across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain accurate, well‑organised, and up‑to‑date financial records.
  • Process and track invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and expense claims.
  • Support accounts payable activities, including supplier payments and refunds.
  • Assist with payroll administration and related financial processing.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial records and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Ensure financial records comply with company procedures and relevant financial regulations.
  • Identify errors, missing information, or irregularities and escalate appropriately.
  • Use accounting and finance software to input, manage, and retrieve financial data.
  • Support continuous improvement of finance administration processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or bookkeeping role.
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Well organised, reliable, and able to manage routine tasks effectively.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or project‑based environments is an advantage.
