Overview
In this Payroll Specialist role, you will manage end-to-end payroll for multiple North and South American entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will work closely with local vendors and HR teams to support a large employee base and maintain compliant processes. This role focuses on data validation, audits, and reporting to uphold regulatory standards and financial integrity. You will contribute to Solera’s mission by delivering reliable payroll services and supporting business objectives with precise, confidential data handling. A strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration and process improvement will help you shape scalable payroll operations across regions.

Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly NA payrolls (hourly and salaried) and monthly SA payrolls
- Manage Time and Absence system for ~2,800 employees
- Process garnishments, tax and deduction elections
- Respond to employee payroll questions
- Lead audits related to payroll/benefits and act as liaison with internal/external auditors
- Establish controls for regulatory compliance (Federal, State, Local, ERISA, DOL, HIPAA)
- Audit HRIS data, identify/correct discrepancies before quarter-end filings
- Reconcile quarterly tax returns and verify W-2s/2Cs
- Collaborate with vendors on system updates and troubleshooting
- Maintain fringe benefits records for company vehicle use
- Develop and run end-to-end payroll reporting; provide routine/ad hoc reports
- Follow payroll policies; train HR staff and Time/Absence Managers
- Prepare files for Accounting (GL, Headcount, Accruals)
- Handle other duties/projects as assigned
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 3–6 years of direct payroll experience
- Experience with Workday and ADP (WFN and Celergo)
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and compliance
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger experience
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; ability to perform internet research
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and in a team; multi-task in a fast-paced environment
