Governance Officer in Southampton

Governance Officer in Southampton

Southampton Full-Time On-site
S

The Governance Officer will provide high-quality governance and committee support to the University's Board of Governors and senior leaders, ensuring effective decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the efficient operation of the University's governance framework.

Are you an organised and proactive professional with excellent administrative skills and an eye for detail?

We are looking for a Governance Officer to join our Corporate Governance team and play a key role in supporting the effective governance of the University.

Working closely with senior leaders, governors and colleagues across the University, you will support the operation of the Board of Governors, its committees and other key decision-making bodies. You will coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and papers, produce accurate minutes, and help ensure that governance processes are managed effectively and in line with regulatory requirements and sector best practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and contributing to the successful operation of a complex organisation.

You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining attention to detail, and providing a high-quality service to a range of stakeholders.

Experience of governance, compliance or committee administration within higher education, the public sector or another regulated environment would be advantageous, but we are equally keen to hear from candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

Please note that the role requires attendance at some evening meetings throughout the year, for which time off in lieu arrangements apply.

If you believe you have the skills, experience and enthusiasm we are looking for, we would be delighted to hear from you.
