We are looking for a part-time Receptionist for 10 hours per week tojoin our patient orientated and friendly team. The practice aims to deliververy high standards of care and service to its patients, and you will be a keymember of our front of house team, often being the first contact for ourpatients.
This is a varied, rewarding and challenging role which will suitpeople who enjoy working in a busy environment with lots of patient contact(both face to face and on the telephone).
You should be comfortable workingwith IT systems, be accurate in your work, have a calm nature, enjoy working aspart of a team, be keen to learn new skills, have a friendly and caringapproach, and keep a sense of humour.
The hours will be Wednesday 08.00-13.00 and Friday 13.00-18.00 and cover will be required for sickness and holidays.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients and the practice team.
To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis. To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the partners and patients
Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment in line with practice appointments procedures.
Ensure that patients without appointments but who need \βurgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots.

The practice has a friendly team of GP\βs, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, physicians associate and GP Assistants along with the admin and reception teams.
The role will be part time worked on a rota covering the hours 07:45 β 18:30 Monday to Friday
Job responsibilities
Deal with telephone and email requests for appointments ensuring that the correctprotocols are followed for routine and urgent care
Signpostpatients to the correct service or clinician
Dealwith all general enquiries & explain procedures
Processnew and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Managementof repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately, timely andefficiently
Takeinformation from patients regarding transport requirements and add this to thePatient Transport System
Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary
Openand direct post
Photocopydocumentation as required
Takedetails of change of details, amend on Emis and notify the secretaries ofpatients out of the practice area.
Chargingpatients the appropriate amount for private work, providing a receipt to thepatient
Ensureblood forms are ready for the phlebotomy clinic
Greetvisitors ensuring that all visitors sign in and direct them to the appropriateperson
Ensureclinical rooms are set for the beginning of each clinic
Openand close the surgery as per the procedure
Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Undertakeany additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners ormanagement team
Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSE grade at least C in English and Maths
Experience
- Experience of working as a receptionist
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Use of EMIS clinical system
