The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.
You will be working with the team at the Solent Stevedores Rail & Container Terminal in the Port of Southampton. This role will be a multi skilled operator (MSO) and will be operating Reach Stackers, Tugs or Empty Container Handlers. A ticket for one or all of these pieces of plant would be great but is not essential as training will be provided. There is one full time role available. This site has recently undergone an £17m redevelopment to improve site infrastructure including rail upgrades and a 12-acre expansion. The investment will allow us to offer container repair and maintenance services. The site operates 24 hours a day from Monday until Saturday at 12:00. We receive containers by rail and road and operate a fleet of Tugs, Reach Stackers, and Empty Container Handlers.
Main Duties:
- Unloading and loading containers from HGV’s and trains.
- Transporting containers by tug from our site to other sites within the Port. No external driving is required.
- Stacking containers in yard.
- Ensuring operations are carried out in line with company procedures on health & safety, environment, and quality.
- Carry out pre shift checks on your equipment.
- Ensure trains and vehicles are loaded/unloaded in line with load plans, train lists and time deadlines.
- Ensure containers are stacked as per site plans.
- Promote a positive working culture.
- Report and help investigate incidents and near misses.
Requirements:
- Good attitude towards health & safety.
- Ability to make decisions and work to tight deadlines.
- UK driving licence.
- Ability to communicate with staff and customers.
- Experience in container operations.
- Ability to work in a busy, sometimes high-pressured environment.
- Ability to read lists and follow instructions.
- Basic use of email and applications on tablets/phones.
- Be able to work well as a team.
