Role Description

The Registered Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Sway, Lymington, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of a children’s residential service.

This role includes overseeing care planning, safeguarding, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards, as well as ensuring high-quality support for children with diverse emotional and behavioral needs.

The Registered Manager will lead and develop the staff team, manage rotas, supervise and appraise team members, and promote a positive, inclusive culture.

They will also handle budgeting, reporting, and liaison with commissioners, social workers, and education providers, ensuring effective communication and continuity of care.

The role involves maintaining accurate records, preparing for inspections, and continuously improving service delivery.

This role would also suit a strong Deputy Manager looking to step up.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising teams in a social care or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of children’s residential care regulations, safeguarding practices, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with children, families, and professionals.
  • Proven ability in service planning, risk assessment, recordkeeping, and report writing.
  • Relevant qualification in social care or management (e. g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it).
  • Experience working with children and young people with emotional and behavioral needs, and an understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Comfort using digital tools for documentation, communication, and reporting.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice, with a child-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including participation in an on-call rota as required.
