We are looking for a Shift Production Operator to play a key role in the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a hazardous chemical manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on role at the heart of production, where safety, quality and teamwork are critical to success.
The Role
You’ll operate and monitor plant equipment in line with strict safety, environmental and quality standards, ensuring production runs smoothly and reliably.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and controlling pumps, tankers, reactors, distillation columns and associated plant equipment (field and DCS)
- Starting up, shutting down and adjusting processes in line with SOPs
- Conducting routine sampling, inspections and quality checks
- Responding to plant upsets, spills or equipment issues safely and effectively
- Supporting emergency response plans and participating in safety drills
- Providing clear shift handovers and working closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards and strict compliance with hazardous materials procedures
What You’ll Bring
- GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science
- Process or Engineering Apprenticeship desirable
- Experience within chemical, petrochemical or industrial manufacturing environments preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and process safety principles advantageous
- Able to read P&IDs, SOPs and safety data sheets
- Strong safety awareness, mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Calm, decisive and effective under pressure
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
