Soldado Limited is an insect biotechnology startup producing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) seed stock and production infrastructure for animal feed, aquaculture, sustainable agriculture and circular economy markets. The company is entering a key growth phase as it scales production, develops commercial partnerships and prepares for future institutional investment.
Soldado is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Chair to provide strategic leadership, governance oversight and constructive challenge as the business transitions from startup to scale-up. The Chair will work closely with the CEO and Co-Founders to shape long-term strategy, investment readiness and market position.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the CEO and Co-Founders to refine and deliver Soldado’s growth strategy.
- Guide scale-up, commercialisation, team development and preparation for institutional investment.
- Lead an effective Board and support strong governance, risk management and decision-making.
- Provide senior insight on fundraising, investor engagement, venture capital, growth capital and professional investor expectations.
- Support partnerships and market positioning across UK and European agri-tech, animal feed, aquaculture, waste management and circular economy markets.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the founding team while providing independent oversight and constructive challenge.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will combine institutional investment experience with a strong understanding of medium-to-large fundraising rounds and the expectations of sophisticated investors. They will bring relevant networks and market insight across the UK and Europe, particularly in agri-tech, animal feed, waste management, aquaculture, insect production or circular economy markets. They will be excited to work alongside an ambitious founding team to help shape a foundational UK insect biotechnology company.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be agreed with the successful candidate and is expected to be structured primarily on a share-based basis, reflecting Soldado’s current stage of development and the importance of aligning the Chair’s contribution with the long-term growth and value creation of the business.
