Position Overview: The BESS Technical Support Engineer / Specialist is responsible for providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong understanding of energy storage technology, system integration, and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
    • Provide remote and on-site technical support for commissioning, operation, and maintenance of BESS solutions.
    • Diagnose and resolve system faults related to battery systems, inverters, BMS/EMS, and communication networks.
    • Work closely with HQ R&D and product teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
    • Guide customers and service partners through system testing, firmware upgrades, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Pre-Sales & Solution Support
    • Support the sales and application engineering teams with technical documentation, system configuration, and project design reviews.
    • Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions to explain system architecture and product functionalities.
    • Review project drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Training & Documentation
    • Conduct technical training for customers, EPCs, and internal service teams.
    • Prepare and update user manuals, installation guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting checklists.
    • Maintain accurate service reports, failure analyses, and system performance records.
  • Quality & Feedback
    • Monitor field performance and provide feedback to product and R&D teams for continuous improvement.
    • Support warranty claim evaluations and root-cause analysis of returned components.
    • Contribute to service knowledge base development and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technical support, commissioning, or service for BESS, solar, or power systems.
  • Strong understanding of Li-ion battery technology, inverter operation, communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, TCP/IP), and power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with EMS, BMS, SCADA systems, or grid integration is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site support and training.
