Solarpro is seeking an experienced
Project Construction Manager to lead the site execution of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of EPC construction activities from site mobilization through mechanical completion and handover.
This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and consultants while maintaining the highest standards of quality, health & safety and project governance.
The position is site-based (future projects in Nottinghamshire, Essex and Aylesbury) and requires a proactive leader capable of driving project performance while representing Solarpro professionally towards clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on‑site construction activities for utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS EPC projects.
- Ensure construction works are executed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site supervision teams.
- Monitor construction progress and implement recovery actions whenever required.
- Review and challenge construction methodologies to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, HSE and Commissioning teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure full compliance with approved IFC drawings, specifications, method statements and project procedures.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation measures.
- Manage construction interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and grid connection works.
- Monitor subcontractor performance including productivity, quality, safety and contractual compliance.
- Lead daily, weekly and monthly construction meetings.
- Prepare construction progress reports and provide regular updates to Project Management.
- Support commercial teams regarding variation orders, claims and subcontractor management.
- Ensure punch list activities are completed efficiently prior to project handover.
- Support commissioning and energization activities until successful project completion.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement on site.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of construction experience within EPC projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing utility‑scale Solar PV projects.
- Experience delivering projects larger than 50 MW.
- Previous experience managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Strong understanding of EPC project delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Valid driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and remain site‑based across the United Kingdom (future projects in Nottinghamshire, Essex and Aylesbury)
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
- Experience delivering construction projects within the United Kingdom or Europe.
- Knowledge of UK Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Familiarity with National Grid, DNO and ICP requirements.
- SMSTS certification or willingness to obtain it prior to site mobilization.
- CSCS Black Card or eligibility to obtain it prior to site mobilization.
- Temporary Works Coordinator certification is an advantage.
- First Aid at Work certification is an advantage.
