Job Description Job Title: Area Sales Manager Location: UK Reports to: General Manager Driving licence: Valid UK driving licence required Job Purpose The Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales of off-grid solar systems across multiple market sectors in the south of England and Scotland. The role will maintain and develop relationships within the caravan, camping and motorhome markets, identify new business opportunities and support the company’s growth and market-share objectives. Key Duties and Responsibilities 1. Business Development and Lead Generation * Generate leads through research and networking, building valuable contacts in new and existing sectors. * Develop and implement strategies to enter new markets for off-grid solar systems and expand the company’s presence in established markets. 2. Account Management and Growth * Manage and grow the existing customer base. * Build strong, long-term relationships with key accounts to support customer satisfaction and loyalty. * Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell relevant products and services. 3. Technical Sales Support * Provide clear, accurate technical advice on product benefits and applications. * Use knowledge of electronics, solar panels, recreational vehicle or caravan systems, or related sectors to answer enquiries and resolve technical issues. * Explain technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. 4. Representation and Networking * Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions and industry events, promoting its products and services. * Develop professional networks and monitor industry trends and competitor activity. 5. Team Collaboration * Contribute to sales meetings by sharing market insight, effective approaches and good practice. * Work closely with Operations, Marketing and other teams to align sales activity with business objectives and deliver a consistent customer experience. 6. Reporting and Administration * Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions and business development. * Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline development and market feedback. * Use the company’s CRM system and other software to manage customer information and monitor progress against sales targets. Skills and Competencies * Customer relationship management: Ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships. * Sales performance: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets, ideally in technical products or services. * Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage internal colleagues and external customers. * Technical knowledge: Good understanding of electronics, 12 V systems, recreational vehicle or caravan products, solar technology or related products. * Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose customer needs and use technical knowledge to provide practical solutions. * Flexibility: Willingness to work from home or the office as required and to stay away from home occasionally for business purposes. Qualifications and Experience * A technical qualification or relevant experience in electronics, solar technology or a related field is desirable.
