Your Role in Engineering Success
As a Senior Proposals Engineer, you'll take the lead in crafting compelling proposals that balance technical precision with commercial strategy. You'll be instrumental in securing major projects across sectors including CHP, BESS, gas peaking, hydrogen, and data centres.
Beyond proposal development, you'll also mentor junior team members and help refine our internal processes-making a lasting impact on both our business and your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
In this senior-level position, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the development of detailed, competitive proposals including scope, pricing, and terms
- Reviewing customer RFQs and technical documentation to shape tailored solutions
- Collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Project teams throughout the bid process
- Coordinating site visits, supplier meetings, and subcontractor engagement
- Supporting Sales Engineers during client interactions and presentations
- Identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risks
- Managing supplier and subcontractor RFQs and proposal documentation
- Acting as the main point of contact for proposal-related client queries
- Ensuring seamless handovers to the Project Delivery team
- Reporting progress and insights to senior leadership
- Driving continuous improvement across the proposals function
- Upholding HSEQ standards across all proposal activities
- Providing guidance and coaching to junior engineers within the team
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- 5+ years' experience in technical proposals or engineering sales
- Strong foundation in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
- Proven track record in leading complex bids
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and negotiate commercial terms
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in CHP, BESS, hydrogen, peaking plants, or data centre projects
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience within engineering teams
