Solar Careers UK, is a division of the solar industry\’s trade association Solar Energy UK, who represent 425+ solar businesses, many that specialise in providing high quality solar installations to domestic, commercial, and utility-scale clients. We have been asked to assist them with the recruitment of full-time and permanent installation teams from across all regions of the United Kingdom.
An established Solar farm developer and operator is looking for a Junior ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Analyst to work 2 days in its London office and 2 days remote.
As a Junior ESG Analyst you will support research, analysis, and report on ESG factors to help companies, investors, or advisory firms integrate sustainability into their decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- ESG Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and analyse ESG-related data from company reports, third-party sources, and regulatory filings.
- Assess environmental impact (carbon footprint, water use, waste management).
- Evaluate social factors (labour practices, diversity, human rights).
- Review governance structures (board diversity, executive pay, ethics policies).
- Sustainability Research & Reporting: Conduct research on ESG trends, policies, and industry best practices.
- Prepare ESG reports, presentations, and scorecards for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in writing sustainability disclosures (e.g., TCFD, GRI, SASB, CSRD).
- ESG Risk Assessment: Support risk analysis related to ESG factors, such as climate risks or supply chain issues.
- Help evaluate companies\’ ESG risks for investment purposes (if working in finance).
- Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance: Assist in engagement with companies, investors, or regulators on ESG matters.
- Support compliance with ESG regulations and frameworks (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy).
- ESG Ratings & Benchmarking: Compare ESG performance of companies against peers.
- Work with ESG rating agencies (MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS) to improve scores.
Skills Required:
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Basic understanding of ESG frameworks and regulations.
- Ability to interpret sustainability reports and financial disclosures.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and ESG data tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
