Job Purpose: Deliver the assigned construction and engineering projects successfully at site level whilst conforming to time, scope and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are always understood and adhered to.
  • Act as the client’s primary focus on a day-to-day basis, acting in a professional and courteous manner, and reporting any relevant interactions internally.
  • Manage subcontractors and their works, challenging any cost, scope, progress, safety or quality issues, and reorganising works where appropriate.
  • Take charge of project logistics ahead of time, co-ordinating deliveries and plant movement, taking into account site conditions and offload requirements to ensure that goods and materials are installed safely and on programme.
  • Responsible for digitally updating the provided project plan, reporting live on progress and delay in an accurate manner, whilst creating parallel lookahead programmes for site as required.
  • Manage the delivery of assigned Inspection Test Plans to enable the sequential sign-off of individual packages of work.
  • Organise and manage the site mobilisation and demobilisation, plus hire and off-hire of equipment required for the works.
  • Manage RAMS reviews, and creation or amendment where necessary.
  • Deliver inductions and toolbox talks, and manage permit to work systems.
  • Write detailed reports and updates for the Project Engineering Manager and other project departmental heads.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to assist the Project Manager in the procurement of necessary materials for the installation.
  • Collate and submit accurate project documentation, including but not limited to As-Built drawings, calibration and test certificates, and commissioning records.
  • Suggest and implement cost-effective solutions and proposals, acting as the focal point for unexpected technical difficulties and other problems, ensuring that they are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Control the continuous snagging of work on site, arranging for appropriate actions to be taken and closed out ahead of time.
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders either in person or online.
  • Where appropriate, schedule and act as chair, taking minutes and assigning actions.
  • Undertake the role and responsibilities of Site Manager as required with particular emphasis on CDM and the supervision of sub-contractors.

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:

  • Experience within a relevant discipline, such as construction, electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Good understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Good IT skills – Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project, Teams, able to communicate and use VPN, video conferencing and mobile platforms.
  • Knowledge of current ‘Construction (Design and Management) Regulations’.
  • Project Management.
  • Basic coaching and negotiation skills.

Essential:

  • A background in electrical / mechanical engineering and/or construction.
  • Site management experience.
  • CSCS card holder.
  • Knowledge of the current ‘Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home as required.

Desirable:

  • Experienced with CHP installations.
  • Experience in a related discipline e.g. – boilers, HV systems, quantity surveying, CAD, planning, SCADA, BMS.
  • IOSH / SMSTS qualified.
  • Degree / HND / HNC in Engineering.
