About Perle
Perle is a data sourcing company dedicated to building high-quality, human-generated datasets that power the next generation of AI and machine learning technologies. We work with contributors around the world to collect authentic, diverse, and linguistically rich data.
About the Role
We are looking for native UK English speakers to join our audio data collection project as Freelance Audio Contributors. In this role, you will wear multiple hats: recording conversational audio, transcribing dialogue, and reviewing audio submitted by other contributors. This is a flexible, remote, project-based engagement — ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and passionate about language.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio Recording
- Record natural, two-speaker conversations following pre-written conversation prompts and scripts.
- Keep dialogue natural and spontaneous, even when guided by a script.
- Ensure recordings meet technical specs: minimum 16kHz sample rate, clear audio, minimal background noise.
- Each file must be between 10 seconds and 1 minute in length.
- Use standard headphones and microphone (studio setup is a plus but not required).
- Transcription
- Accurately transcribe recorded audio dialogues into written text.
- Capture speaker turns, natural speech patterns, and relevant verbal cues.
- Follow Perle's transcription style guide for formatting and notation.
- Audio Review & Quality Assurance
- Listen to and evaluate audio recordings submitted by other contributors.
- Assess recordings for naturalness, audio clarity, accent compliance, and content guidelines.
- Flag and report files that do not meet project specifications.
Requirements
- Native UK English speaker with a standard, non-heavily accented British accent.
- Access to a quiet recording environment and a reliable headset / microphone.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and meet batch delivery deadlines.
- Basic computer literacy (file management, audio uploads, spreadsheet tools).
- Prior experience in transcription, voice work, or data annotation is a plus — but not required.
Important Notes
- All audio data must be original and legally sourced.
- Contributors must comply with applicable privacy regulations (GDPR and applicable UK laws).
- Submitted data must not include any personally identifiable information (PII) of third parties without explicit consent.
- Perle retains all intellectual property rights to collected data and associated deliverables.
How to Apply
If you are interested in joining the Perle contributor network, please submit your application with a brief introduction, confirmation of your regional accent, and any relevant experience in audio, transcription, or QA work. We look forward to working with you!
