Solalights is an independent lighting hire company supplying film, television, photography, retail and e-commerce productions. We are a small, friendly team with a practical, hands-on approach and a reputation built on technical competence, well-maintained equipment and efficient service.

We're looking for somebody to join the team and help manage customer enquiries, equipment bookings, logistics and the day-to-day flow of equipment through the business.

The Role

This role combines customer support, equipment booking, logistics and operational coordination. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing quotations and equipment bookings.
  • Managing customer enquiries by phone and email.
  • Coordinating deliveries and collections.
  • Working closely with the warehouse team to ensure equipment is prepared and returned efficiently.
  • Helping maintain technical standards, equipment organisation and testing schedules.
  • Supporting the practical day-to-day running of the business.

As a small company, everybody gets involved where needed. This is a hands-on role and there will be times when you are helping organise equipment, prepare jobs or support warehouse operations. The role is based at our Hayes warehouse and requires day-to-day involvement with both the equipment and the team. It is not a remote-working position.

About You

We're less interested in qualifications and more interested in finding the right person. Ideally, you'll have experience in:

  • Lighting rental
  • Broadcast equipment hire
  • AV rental
  • Events production
  • Studio equipment hire
  • Or a similar technical rental environment

You should be:

  • Absolutely reliable and punctual.
  • Technically competent and interested in equipment.
  • Calm, organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Hands-on and willing to get involved wherever required.
  • Happy working as part of a small team.
  • Looking to take the next step in your career.
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
  • Experience with rental software and equipment booking systems is also an advantage.

What We're Looking For

Historically we've often recruited good people from outside the industry and trained them into the role. This time we're hoping to find somebody who already has relevant experience and can contribute reasonably quickly. We're not looking for a salesperson or a corporate manager. We're looking for somebody with a strong technical grounding, a practical approach and the ability to take ownership of their responsibilities. The successful candidate will probably be somebody who is already working in a technical hire, lighting, broadcast or AV environment and is ready for greater responsibility and a broader role.

About Solalights

Our reputation has never been built on hard selling. We believe in supplying the right equipment, keeping it in excellent condition and providing straightforward, reliable service. If that sounds like the sort of company you'd like to work for, we'd be pleased to hear from you. Please send your CV and a short covering email outlining your experience and current role.
