Redbridge is one of the most dynamic and diverse boroughs in London. It’s also a place of great contrast – where fantastic opportunities and deeply rooted challenges persist. It’s this complexity that makes this role such a great professional opportunity. It’s your chance to make a real impact and see generational change in enhancing living standards and giving people better access to affordable homes and enhanced economic opportunities.
The availability of good quality, affordable housing is an essential strategic element of our ambitions for people and place in Redbridge. This is your opportunity to accelerate the delivery of affordable homes in the borough – shaping a housing delivery framework through partnership working with the GLA, Homes England, registered providers and developers. You’ll help to unlock sites that can support sustainable development - identifying funding to make these commercially viable and identifying the right partners to deliver homes that meet the needs of our residents.
You’ll evaluate different models of delivery in pursuit of innovative approaches to sustainable and affordable housing delivery and ensure that a robust approach to programme management ensures pace of progress alongside close attention to issues of quality and compliance. A strategic perspective will be vital to enable you to make connections across the full place and regeneration agendas.
We expect that you will already have a proven track record of enabling the development of new homes as well as a grounded appreciation of affordability requirements and the challenges of meeting these in today’s market. You should have a good appreciation of the political attention and scrutiny that comes with such a role and the communication and relationship building skills required to navigate this. It’s likely that you are already working in a local government or housing association setting, with a detailed appreciation of the current funding, legislative and policy context in which we operate.
