Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the work of a talented and committed team dedicated to making the borough a safer place to live, work or visit.
- Partner with a wide range of organisations, influencing, advocating and negotiating to raise community safety standards.
- Advise and persuade decision‑makers across different organisations on all issues pertaining to community safety, highlighting areas of risk, mitigation measures and ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
- Manage people and resources, commission, contract manage and identify and realise grant‑funding opportunities to support services.
- Build resilience and tenacity, being prepared to speak truth to power when required.
Qualifications
- Extensive professional knowledge of community safety issues.
- Proven experience managing teams and resources.
- Strong experience in commissioning, contract management and securing grant funding.
- Exceptional partnership working skills, with the ability to listen, adapt and passionately advocate for the borough’s priorities.
- Ability to operate effectively in a political environment and handle high levels of scrutiny and attention.
