Glenrothes is a place of invention and creativity, that has always embraced new ideas and opportunities. A strong sense of community and connection underpins shared aspirations for our young people: we are committed to doing all we can to enhance their life chances. Positive early years development and high-quality education is the foundation for their future success.

This is a fantastic career opportunity for an experienced education professional who has a proven track record of improving experiences and attainment in schools and delivering better outcomes for young people. As one of three Heads of Service you will act as the strategic lead for a designated geographical area – working with establishments and schools across Early Years, Primary and Secondary.

We’re looking for someone who can establish excellent working relationships with school leaders in order to foster a shared approach and a culture that welcomes professional feedback, greater collaboration between schools and a shared focus on raising attainment. You’ll promote innovation to enrich the curriculum, support schools in how they can best utilise their resources and expertise to meet the growing demands in Additional Support Needs and build on current areas of strength such as Positive Destination Outcomes.

It’s an opportunity that will suit someone who understands the dynamics of leading change within strategic and operational contexts, and who has a well-informed understanding of the current priorities and challenges within Scottish education. Your professional expertise should be enhanced by the breadth of perspective that enables you to make connections at a system level – identifying the interdependencies across Education, Children’s Services, Health and Economic Development.

This is an opportunity to work at scale, in a council that is on a journey of improvement, and where there is wholehearted organisational and political commitment to providing our young people with the best possible education. You can play a key role in raising expectation and aspirations, and then making it happen.
