Transport Manager in Sheffield

Job role: Transport Manager Location: Sheffield Job Type: Full-time A great opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager to take ownership, make a real impact and help build a scalable transport operation as the business grows. You’ll be responsible for driver management, recruitment, route planning, fleet management and improving transport processes, with the opportunity to help shape the operation as the business expands. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage the HGV driver team. * Recruit, interview and onboard drivers. * Plan and optimise daily HGV collection routes. * Manage driver performance, attendance and productivity. * Develop transport KPIs, processes and reporting. * Manage vehicle defects, servicing, MOTs and breakdowns. * Ensure vehicles and operations remain safe and compliant. * Improve efficiency and reduce delays and missed collections. * Support the transition from subcontracted to company-owned fleet operations. * Help develop future supervisors and transport management structures. About You * Proven experience managing HGV drivers and transport operations. * Strong route planning and fleet management experience. * Experience recruiting and managing driver performance. * Good knowledge of HGV vehicles, defects and compliance. * Strong leadership, organisation and problem-solving skills. * Commercially aware with a hands-on approach. * Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. This is a hands-on operational role, requiring flexibility around early driver starts and the ability to respond quickly when issues arise. Transport Manager CPC is required Waste/refuse collection experience is advantageous
