Are you an experienced Headteacher looking to lead a specialist school where you can make a genuine difference? We are recruiting a Headteacher for an established independent specialist SEN day school in the Dudley area, supporting pupils aged 11–16 with SEN and SEMH needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a small school environment and enjoys being closely involved in the day-to-day operational running of a specialist setting.

The school provides high-quality education within a nurturing, therapeutic environment. It supports young people with a range of additional needs, with a strong focus on engagement, emotional regulation and positive outcomes.

You will provide strong strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the school delivers effective education and support while continuing its journey of improvement. The successful candidate will have recent and substantial experience leading a specialist SEND / SEMH setting, with a solid understanding of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience as a Headteacher (or equivalent senior leader) within a SEND / SEMH environment
  • Experience leading a small specialist setting, with a hands-on leadership approach
  • Strong knowledge of school improvement, curriculum development and quality assurance
  • A thorough understanding of the Independent School Standards
  • The ability to motivate, lead and support staff and pupils using a person-centred approach
  • A proactive, solution-focused “can do” attitude
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
