Soiltechnics are pleased to announce a new and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join one of the leading companies specialising in ground‑related risk management and building fabric investigation, based in our Northampton office. The role of the Field Site Operative offers the right candidate the opportunity to build, develop and grow their career with a highly reputable and growing company.
The role is physically demanding and involves visiting sites nationwide to undertake various investigations such as:
- Excavation of trial pits by hand
- Operating hand tools including breakers
- Assisting in moving equipment and plant from one location onto subsequent investigation points
- Undertaking soil sampling as directed by the site engineer
- Diamond coring
- Any other duties related to the investigation process as required
Training will be provided by the company covering safe working and operation of equipment, as well as for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. Training costs with respect to these and other approved training schemes are met by the company. The role is site‑based and you will be required to travel to sites across the country as necessary. Vehicles for travel are provided by the company although you will need to be able to attend our offices and have a full driving license.
Having the ability to work both as part of a team and also take overall responsibility for your personal workload, whilst delivering excellent levels of service is essential. A desire to put our clients’ needs first and a thirst to develop your own skills is a key part of fitting into this established team.
To be successful in this role you’ll have strong communication skills, be reliable and a team player with good computer skills. You will enjoy physical work, be looking to learn new skills and have practical problem‑solving skills. You will be expected to sit the necessary courses, medical, drug and alcohol screening tests as required. You’ll be working across a number of business areas so strong organisational skills are also a must. You’ll also have a strong team ethic, have a pro‑active attitude and be able to demonstrate strong collaborative behaviours within a team and multifunctional trades. It is preferable that you have CSCS but this is not essential as this can be developed whilst in the role. The role may lead to learning how to operate equipment such as diamond coring and specialist hand tools.
You’ll be joining a highly reputable and growing company who have a real passion for the environment and ground risk management, delivering a first‑class service to customers. We’re offering a competitive starting salary of £22,000 – £25,000 pa depending on experience, along with 25 days annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays), site pay for each day worked onsite, private medical insurance and relevant professional/training fees paid for.
Operating from two key locations (Northampton and Manchester), our clients benefit from our extensive market knowledge and a wealth of technical experience.
