Role Purpose
We are looking for a Commercial Manager UK to drive the development of our UK commercial activities within the Agri‑food value chain and around it (water, financial services, etc) across the agri‑food value chain. This is a hybrid role combining new business sales and hands‑on account management, with a strong on‑the‑ground presence. You will be responsible for signing new commercial partnerships with UK merchants, traders, cooperatives and CPG corporates, while also managing and growing existing accounts through close field engagement, including launching and running local programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development
- Identify, prospect and sign new commercial partnerships with UK agricultural merchants, traders and cooperatives, and UK and international CPG corporates with UK supply chains.
- Own the full sales cycle: lead generation, pitching, negotiation and closing.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline aligned with revenue targets.
- Represent Soil Capital at industry events, trade shows and partner meetings.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of UK accounts post‑signature (Cefetra, Boortmalt, Oxbury…).
- Launch and run programmes on the ground, working closely with partners and internal teams.
- Act as the main point of contact for UK partners, ensuring high satisfaction and long‑term engagement.
- Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Maintain a strong field presence, including regular visits to partners and farms.
- Bring insights from the ground to inform product, commercial and go‑to‑market strategy.
- Contribute to the development of the UK market strategy alongside Nathalie, our CRO.
Your profile
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in sales, business development or commercial roles in agri‑food, agriculture, commodities, sustainability, or related sectors.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a track record of closing B2B deals.
- Solid account management capabilities and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating closely with a broader team.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and strong ownership mentality.
- Comfortable in a hybrid role blending office, field and client meetings.
- Pragmatic, hands‑on and results‑driven.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across diverse stakeholders.
Agricultural Knowledge
- Good understanding of UK agriculture, including farming systems and supply chains, merchants, traders, cooperatives and processors.
- Ability to engage credibly with agricultural stakeholders on the ground.
