The Head of Learning & Development (UK Operations and Support functions) will set the strategic vision for organisational learning across the region, creating a culture of lifelong development that enhances capability, strengthens leadership, and prepares the business for the future.

This role will oversee the full spectrum of the employee development lifecycle - from talent frameworks and assessment to development planning, succession management, performance optimisation, and feedback.

With responsibility for leading a regional L&D team and working closely with senior stakeholders, the role will ensure alignment with global people strategy, while tailoring initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the UK & EU business, including driving innovation and embedding new technologies such as AI to transform the way we learn and work.

Main Duties

  • Strategy Delivery
  • Define and champion the L&D strategy for UK with the People Director, aligned with business objectives and the global people agenda.
  • Embed a culture of continuous learning, growth, and adaptability across all levels of the organisation.
  • Anticipate emerging business and industry skills needs, integrating them into workforce planning and learning solutions.
  • Entry Talent Programmes
  • Collaborate with teams to curate a bespoke graduate programme that can be scaled and rolled out across all regions of the business
  • Project budgeting requirements and create solutions for constraints that may impact delivery.
  • Focus on apprenticeships, graduate programme, management in training and internships.
  • Talent & Leadership Development
  • Design and implement regional Talent Framework, ensuring clarity around capabilities, behaviours and growth pathways.
  • Oversee talent assessment and development planning processes, enabling employees and leaders to identify and close capability gaps.
  • Partner with Head of L&D EU, HR and Leadership teams to ensure robust succession planning and sustainable talent pipelines.
  • Implement and manage 360 feedback processes to support leadership self-awareness, development and high performance.
  • Leadership & Organisational Development
  • Drive the design and delivery of leadership development pathways, through programmes such as MIT and leadership apprenticeships, to strengthen manager and leader capability
  • Design and launch a global mentorship programme that promotes cross-regional knowledge sharing, leadership readiness and inclusive growth.
  • Oversee the Manager in Training (MIT) programme, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with business needs across regions.
  • Lead learning initiatives for support office teams, including AI and digital transformation, to build future-ready skills across the business.
  • Collaboration & Influence
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights into talent development, organisational capability and succession planning.
  • Build strong partnerships with functional leaders to align learning initiatives with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with global L&D peers to shape global strategy while tailoring solutions for regional needs.
  • Represent Soho House externally with training providers, universities and professional bodies to enhance our learning offering and employer brand.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Directly lead and develop a regional L&D team (3 L&D Managers in the UK), ensuring delivery excellence and consistency.
  • Coach and mentor L&D managers, creating a high-performance culture and supporting their career growth.
  • Build capability within the L&D function to innovate, influence and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Measurement & Impact
  • Define success metrics for L&D initiatives, using data, feedback and business outcomes to demonstrate ROI.
  • Continuously review and refine programmes to maximise organisational performance, employee engagement and long term growth.
  • Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Proven experience leading L&D strategy at regional or global level, with a focus on organisational and leadership development.
  • Strong track record in designing and embedding talent frameworks, succession planning, and performance management processes.
  • Experience implementing mentorship, leadership, and management development programmes at scale.
  • Influential leader, able to shape thinking and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with operational excellence, able to deliver both vision and measurable impact.
  • Experience working in hospitality operations is desired and delivering training and coaching in the hospitality industry is essential.
