At Soho House, the Head Chef is a culinary expert who oversees the operations and staff of one of our houses or public restaurants, ensuring member satisfaction and high-quality dishes.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain the kitchen's budget.
- Assign tasks to brigade chefs and ensure member satisfaction through high-quality dishes.
- Work with the General Manager to improve the food offering and appeal to members and guests.
- Oversee Back-of-House operations (pastry, production, pizza, pasta and specialty cooks).
- Recruit, onboard, train, handle payroll and disciplinary procedures for staff.
- Conduct staff appraisals and strategise with leadership on performance and development.
- Enforce health and safety policies and all company policies, procedures and standards.
- Delegate tasks and complete daily check-lists for business levels, production, orders, special requests, events, dietary restrictions and allergy procedures.
- Educate and train staff on safe work habits and processes.
- Create, implement and enforce efficient kitchen processes while managing COGS, margins and profit without sacrificing quality.
- Ensure teamwork and synergy between front- and back-of-house staff through proper communication.
- Collaborate with Marketing/Events on menu creation, food preparation, food costs and quality service.
- Produce team meals for the wider group that are high-quality, varied and suitable for all dietary requirements.
- Manage storing procedures, food orders, food cost, equipment, sanitation and hygiene in line with company and local standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar capacity.
- Culinary trained and professional, passionate and curious to develop further.
- Experience managing P&L, labour, purchasing, vendors and quality control while delivering revenue results.
- Demonstrated competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends and holidays as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ready to take direction and perform autonomously.
