About the role
At Soho House, a Breakfast Chef is the first point of contact in the kitchen each morning.
The Breakfast Chef takes ownership of early‑day operations and ensures the delivery of high‑quality, beautifully presented, and nutritious breakfast dishes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the breakfast kitchen for service – mise en place, stock control, and menu execution during breakfast hours; may also assist in preparation for lunch service.
- Prepare and cook all breakfast dishes to the highest standards, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and timing.
- Ensure mise en place is completed before service and maintain a professional attitude at all times.
- Meet health and safety regulations and attend regular meetings with front and back of house teams to learn about menu or service changes, specials and daily tastings.
- Support junior team members (e. g., prep chefs) through guidance and collaboration.
- Assist in preparation of team meals as requested, considering dietary needs and variety.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning, improvement and teamwork.
- Take full responsibility for the breakfast section, ensuring smooth, timely service and a clean‑down post‑service.
- Wrap unused items and store them in the proper area at end of service.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity in a busy, high‑profile venue.
- Passion for food, attention to detail and a strong desire to learn and grow.
- Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, positive, proactive and respectful attitude in a busy kitchen environment.
- Culinary qualification (e. g., NVQ Level1 or2) is a plus but not essential.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously.
