The Role...
At Soho House, our Technical Assistants play an integral part of ensuring members, guests and staff have a seamless and stable experience across multiple venues and houses. As a Technical Assistant, you will manage our cinemas with scheduled and private screenings, support staff with technical help and assist on smaller projects as directed by the Technical and IT Management or other members of the IT Services management team, along with AV support on events using mixing desks, video playback and recordings, production lighting, and live music. A successful Technician is self-motivated, can think quickly on their feet and thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. You will be a critical thinker with great people skills and a knack for making things work!
What We Are Looking For?

- Familiar with Digital Projection Equipment or equivalent.
- Technically competent and confident to support computer, Internet, software and network security needs.
- Experience with AV lighting, sound, minor repair, installation of AV equipment.
- Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of sound systems, DJ decks, mixing desks & consoles, phone systems, and IPTV infrastructures, equipment and technical specifications.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
Main Duties...
- Operate Cinema in all film and digital video formats and liaise with clients regarding technical needs and assist in presentation set-ups within the Cinema and areas of the property.
- Monitor in-house equipment and usage as well as the presentation, preparation, repair and dispatch of films is effective, cleaning and maintenance of projection equipment, diagnose and solve problems, liaising with Service Engineers and Contractors as appropriate.
- Daily support for audio, visual, IT related troubleshooting and partnering with the events team to ensure lighting, sound, music and all other variables are set-up, secured and prepared prior to guests' arrival.
- Respond to guests' needs in a timely manner and quickly provide solutions or alternative options that can enhance one's experience.
- Proactive support through routine checks, audits, and site visits, as well as document, and advise on all projects that are in progress, complete, or require outside support.
- Maintain safe standards, in addition to a clean, organized, and stocked work area with consistent high-quality service throughout the property.
- Liaising with in-house couriers, print managers and keep up with technical developments in relation to cinema and multi-media equipment, systems, etc. and technical training opportunities.
- Evaluate and flag software, hardware, processes, and configurations if they are not in line with best practice, legal requirements (e.g.: PCI-DSS, GDPR), company standards, and H&S.
- Use the installed ITSM tool (Cherwell) and vendor reports to track and report on incidents.
- Focus on continuous improvement and proactively seek to reduce the number of tickets by recommending the removal of underperforming vendors or identifying kit/software that may fail.
- Collaborate with US, Europe, and Asia house IT support teams to deliver a consistent global approach.
- Collaborate with the Service desk team to ensure support calls are managed and effectively triaged through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and development of ITSM tools.
- L1 & L2 support and troubleshoot issues.
Expected working hours for a Technical Assistant:
This role embodies an unconventional workday and may require nights and weekends to support screenings and large-scale events.
