Your main responsibility is to bring creativity, precision, and a strong technical background to the role, ensuring that every item meets our high standards of taste, texture, and appearance. From fine patisserie to rustic breads and indulgent plated desserts, the Pastry Chef ensures the pastry offering is always seasonal, refined, and aligned with the club’s culinary philosophy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the pastry section, ensuring smooth service and consistent quality.
  • Prepare and produce a wide range of baked goods, desserts, and patisserie, from scratch and to a high standard.
  • Develop new dessert and pastry menu items in collaboration with the Executive and Head Chef, aligning with seasonal themes and member preferences.
  • Maintain excellent presentation and consistency in all pastry items served, whether plated, buffet-style, or takeaway.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of Commis Chefs and Demi Chefs de Partie, helping to develop their technical skills and kitchen knowledge.
  • Attend regular meetings with front and back of house teams to learn about any menu or service changes and specials alongside daily tastings.
  • Assist in preparation of team meals as requested, considering dietary needs and variety.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards learning, improvement, and teamwork.
  • Support with the deep cleaning of the entire kitchen before close.
  • Wrap unused items and store them in proper area at the end of service.

What we are looking for...

  • A successful Pastry Chef for Soho House will ideally have up to 2 years’ experience in a busy high-profile venue and a natural flair for first class service.
  • You’ll be reliable, friendly and happy to be a key part of the team that strives for success.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in similar capacity
  • Passion for food, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Positive, proactive, and respectful attitude in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 1 or 2) is a plus but not essential.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously.
