The Role… The Junior Designer is responsible for producing high-quality project design deliverables from concept generation to FF&E specification and construction documents. They work on one large or multiple smaller projects simultaneously, overseen by the Senior Designer / Lead Designer, to ensure successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Producing high-quality project design deliverables from concept to construction packages under the supervision of the Senior/Lead Designer.
  2. Collaborating closely with the project team, following design management processes.
  3. Creating meeting minutes after design reviews and distributing them to the team.
  4. Conducting sample research and maintaining project documentation neatly.
  5. Meeting project milestones and deadlines with oversight from the Senior/Lead Designer.
  6. Developing project schedules, design drawings, and liaising with suppliers for prototypes.
  7. Managing project timelines and interior design budgets in coordination with Procurement.
  8. Maintaining design integrity and developing the design through all project stages.
  9. Reviewing project stages with input from the Lead Designer.
  10. Assigning project hours in Harvest daily.

Standards and Project Running:

  • Ensuring projects adhere to office standards and keeping documentation up to date.

Project Responsibilities by Stage:

Stage 1: Initial Concept

  • Understanding project deadlines and budgets.
  • Defining overall concept direction with oversight from the Senior/Lead Designer.
  • Organizing reviews and collecting samples for design discussions.

Stage 2: Detailed Concept

  • Finalizing layout plans meeting client and operational needs.
  • Creating FF&E proposals and schedules, reviewed by senior staff.
  • Reviewing FF&E budgets with procurement.

Stage 3: Detailed Design Package

  • Creating tender packages and coordinating with the design team.
  • Participating in V.E workshops and liaising with procurement to ensure design intent is understood.
  • Developing construction drawings and coordinating workshop drawings.

Stage 4: Site Attendance

  • Attending site and design team meetings.
  • Coordinating delivery and installation with procurement.

Stage 5: Installation & Handover

  • Managing site installation and creating handover documents.
  • Overseeing snagging and follow-up processes.
