The Deputy Creative Lead supports the Creative Director in overseeing the daily operations of the design department, ensuring best-in-class design and art direction, smooth workflow, creative consistency, and timely delivery across all Soho House projects. The candidate acts as both a design lead and an operational manager. This role manages team workload, upholds brand standards, and ensures all design output reflects the company’s visual identity and creative vision. They also deputise for the Creative Director in senior meetings, serving as an advocate and point of contact for the content and design team. This is an exciting hybrid role with design and organisational skills in equal demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Design Operations: Manage day-to-day workflow of the design department, ensuring all tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard. Monitor live design requests, track project progress, and balance workloads across the team. Maintain visibility of all incoming briefs, prioritising effectively based on business needs and deadlines. Oversee colour grading, image editing, and design refinements to ensure creative quality and consistency from other members of the team (and international team). Approve design work for newsletters, social graphic design, and pre-press print assets before release. Work as senior graphic designer and art director, enabling the Creative Director to focus on bigger projects, large branding requests and top-level art direction and strategising.
  • Brand Standards & Quality Control: Ensure all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and visual standards as set by the Creative Director and leadership team. Provide constructive feedback to designers, maintaining quality across all visual touchpoints, in line with standards set by Creative Director. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure creative work meets strategic and commercial goals.
  • Team Leadership & Communication: Act as the go-to contact for the design team regarding project timelines, priorities, and workload. Represent the design team in senior management and cross-departmental meetings when deputising for the Creative Director.
  • Reporting & Workflow Management: Track and report on project status, team capacity, and workload distribution, to the CD, Chief Content Officer and Head of Creative Operations. Identify and address potential bottlenecks or resource challenges early.

Skills And Experience Required

  • 8+ years’ experience in a creative / design management role.
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility and honed technical skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.). With animation and video editing as a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining brand consistency.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, workflows, and creative output in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communicator with strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Uphold interdepartmental relationships and serve all parts of the business.
  • An ego-free can-do attitude while displaying advanced design aesthetics and great team skills.
