Overview
Deli Assistant – Babington House (Soho House & Co)
Role at Babington House, a Grade II-listed manor in Somerset. The deli team focuses on delivering refined, attentive, and personalised service to members and guests, including greeting, taking orders, making recommendations and taking payments.
Salary: £15 per hour + Surplus Service Charge

Key duties
- Greet and serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Prepare hot and cold drinks to barista standards (training provided).
- Assist with food preparation, plating, and service at the deli counter.
- Clear tables, wash up, and keep dining and service areas tidy.
- Restock shelves, fridges, and displays to ensure products are available and presented to standard.
- Handle payments and operate the till accurately.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Open and close duties, including cleaning and stock checks.
- Ask members about any allergies or dietary requirements.
- Understand the food and drink menu to make recommendations on pairings and member requests.
- Aim to create a positive experience and accommodate special requests where possible.
What we are looking for
- 1-2 years’ experience in a busy high-profile bar (preferred but not essential)
- Team player who communicates well with colleagues
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Sense of urgency and a proactive attitude
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Genuine passion for food and beverage
- Flexible and available for opening and closing shifts when required
Working hours
- Varying shifts across seven days, including evenings and weekends
- Average hours 32-45 per week
Travel: Approximately 30 minutes from Bath, 50 minutes from Bristol, 10 minutes from Frome (No local transport from Frome)
