The Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will support the Group Commercial Finance Director in delivering high-quality commercial finance support across Soho House’s capital planning, new site feasibility, property, leases, insurance, commercial agreements and business partnering activities.

This role will provide analytical, modelling and commercial insight across a broad range of strategic and operational finance areas, supporting decision-making for senior stakeholders across Development, Legal, Operations, Soho Works, IHDB, Partnerships, Residences and other business areas.

The role will also help strengthen governance, reporting and data-led decision-making across capex, feasibility and commercial finance workstreams.

The successful candidate will be commercially focused, technically strong, highly analytical and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-moving, multi-site international business.

Key Responsibilities..

  • Capital Planning and Governance
  • Support the Group Commercial Finance Director in the day-to-day management, review and reporting of Group capital planning.
  • Review capex submissions and business cases to ensure they are complete, appropriately supported and aligned with Group policy and approval requirements.
  • Prepare analysis on committed, approved and forecast capex spend, highlighting risks, variances and areas requiring management attention.
  • Support the development and maintenance of capital planning reporting, governance trackers and approval materials.
  • Work with Finance, Development and Operations teams to ensure capex decisions are supported by clear financial analysis and appropriate challenge.
  • New Site Feasibility and Investment Appraisal
  • Prepare and review financial models for new site opportunities, refurbishments and development projects.
  • Support the review of key assumptions, including revenue, cost, payroll, rent, capex, working capital and return metrics.
  • Prepare concise summaries of feasibility outputs, sensitivities and key risks for senior stakeholder review.
  • Work with Development, Operations and Finance teams to ensure feasibility models are robust, consistent and clearly documented.
  • Support the assessment of accounting implications linked to new site decisions, including leases, capitalisation and impairment considerations, working with technical accounting teams where required.
  • Property, Leases and Commercial Agreements
  • Support financial analysis relating to leases, property costs, rent reviews, lease amendments and other property-related commercial arrangements.
  • Assist in the financial review of JV, HMA and key commercial agreements, ensuring key terms are understood, summarised and reflected in management reporting where relevant.
  • Prepare analysis to support negotiation, renewal or restructuring of commercial agreements.
  • Maintain clear summaries of key obligations, financial commitments and commercial risks across relevant agreements.
  • Work closely with Legal, Property and Finance colleagues to provide timely financial input into commercial decision-making.
  • Insurance and Claims Support
  • Support the Group Commercial Finance Director with analysis and reporting relating to insurance programmes, claims and coverage matters.
  • Assist with the preparation and financial support of Business Interruption and Contingent Business Interruption claims.
  • Gather, reconcile and analyse financial information required to support claims preparation and recovery.
  • Work with Operations, Finance and external advisors to ensure claims data is accurate, well evidenced and clearly presented.
  • Help maintain reporting on open claims, recoveries, insurance costs and key risk areas.
  • Business Partnering
  • Provide analytical support to the Group Commercial Finance Director in business partnering Soho Works, Residences and other business lines.
  • Prepare monthly performance analysis, commercial insight and decision-support materials for relevant business areas.
  • Support the review of revenue, cost, margin and profitability trends, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with operational and functional teams, providing clear, practical and commercially focused finance support.
  • Translate financial analysis into clear commentary and recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
  • AI-Enabled Analytics and Process Improvement
  • Support the use of AI-enabled tools, ERP data and automation to improve the quality, speed and consistency of commercial finance analysis.
  • Help develop repeatable reporting templates, dashboards and analytical outputs across capital planning, feasibility and commercial agreements.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve data quality and strengthen decision-making through better use of systems and automation.
  • Support process improvements across commercial finance workstreams, ensuring outputs are efficient, controlled and scalable.
  • Maintain strong documentation and version control for key models, reports and governance materials.
  • Key Skills and Experience
  • Strong commercial finance, FP&A, investment appraisal or corporate finance experience, ideally gained in a multi-site, hospitality, property, leisure, retail or consumer-facing business.
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills, with experience preparing or reviewing business cases, feasibility models or investment appraisals.
  • Good understanding of capex, leases, property costs and commercial agreements.
  • Strong Excel and Power Point skills, with the ability to turn analysis into clear, concise outputs for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with ERP, BI or reporting tools, with an interest in AI-enabled analytics and automation.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to challenge assumptions and identify risks or inconsistencies.
  • Good technical accounting awareness, particularly around leases, capex, and capitalisation, with willingness to work closely with technical accounting specialists.
  • Qualified accountant or studying towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent would be preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality, property, leisure, retail, membership or multi-site businesses would be advantageous.
