Responsibilities include:
- Model high-quality social work practice to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need, including those in complex, high-risk situations, ensuring their health, development, safety and long-term stability.
- Lead effective assessment, planning, review and decision-making to secure timely permanence for children who cannot live at home, including looked-after children and care leavers.
- Ensure children's voices are central to practice, actively seeking and using their views (appropriate to age and understanding) to shape interventions and outcomes.
- Provide professional leadership within the team, including resolving professional disagreements, supporting less-experienced social workers, promoting high standards of practice, and driving service improvement.
- Manage complex and high-risk casework, making sound, evidence-based professional judgements on risk, safeguarding, and appropriate levels of intervention in line with legislation and statutory guidance.
- Prepare and present high-quality reports and evidence for panels and courts to secure safe and secure outcomes for children.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, partner agencies and professionals, promoting equality, diversity, anti-discriminatory practice, effective information sharing and positive outcomes for children and young people.
