Soha Housing is a community based, mutual housing association owned by its residents and staff. Our mutual status embodies our commitment to the full engagement of residents and staff in making decisions about our future, collaborating in the design and delivery of services, and holding Soha to account for delivery of excellent services. We reinvest all our surpluses in improving services for our residents and developing new homes to meet local housing need. We own and manage around 8,000 homes within an hour’s travel time from our Didcot base and currently have over 18,000 residents. We build new homes at sector leading levels – predominantly homes for rent and for shared ownership. We are financially strong and committed to doing all we can to provide homes for the many people who struggle to afford secure, affordable homes in our very expensive area of the country.
Over the last twelve months we have successfully brought our repairs service in house to improve the service to our residents, and we are into the second year of a five year strategic plan setting out our ambitions for delivery until 2030. We are committed to our area and our communities, are values led and able to take a long term view on how to deliver with and for our local communities.
We are seeking up to two new Board members and applications are welcome from residents and non-residents alike who share our vision for vibrant, sustainable and resilient communities where everyone can find a home. To augment the existing skills and experience on the Board, we would especially like to hear from people who work within, or have extensive knowledge of, business or digital transformation including AI or finance professionals who have a recognised accountancy qualification.
The successful applicant will be a member of the full Board and also join a Committee. All applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values and culture of a mutual housing association, and a commitment to the full engagement of residents in decision making. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community to reflect the diverse needs and views of our current and future residents. We believe in the need to reflect our area of operation and it is anticipated that applicants will live no more than an hour’s drive from our office.
The time commitment for a Board role is approximately two to three days per month to include meetings, training, strategy discussions and other opportunities throughout the year. Closing date for receipt of CVs and supporting statements is Tuesday, 16 June at 12 noon.
