Responsibilities
- Scope, design and deliver high‑quality data science projects end‑to‑end for our clients, owning technical delivery with limited oversight.
- Support our Principals in exploring & shaping client opportunities.
- Support technical quality with code and design reviews and by sharing best experimentation practice.
- Contribute to data science growth across our organisation as an active member of the Data and AI capability, supporting and sharing best practice with junior colleagues.
- Help shape how Softwire approaches data science: tooling, methodology, use case evaluation, and governance.
Qualifications
- Experienced data scientist with proven expertise in data analysis & predictive analytics.
- Computer vision, natural language processing, MLOps and productionising models.
- Expert knowledge of the Python ecosystem and core data science libraries; experience on major cloud platforms (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit‑learn, MLflow, Azure ML, SageMaker, Databricks).
- Investigative approach to problems, using experiments and evidence to guide decisions.
- Comfortable taking an unclear business problem and shaping it into a data science approach that provides client value.
- Track record designing, training and deploying models that deliver measurable benefits; strong analytics and visualisation skills.
- Strong understanding of statistics, bias, AI ethics, and model governance.
- Active interest in ongoing developments in Data & AI and knowledge of industry trends.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain processes, experiments and outcomes to diverse audiences.
- Interest in growth beyond delivery: knowledge sharing, business development conversations, shaping data science capability.
- Bonus: prior consultancy/advisory experience, and experience in target sectors (Government & Public Sector, Financial Services & Insurance, Energy & Utilities, Transportation, Media & Entertainment, healthcare).
