Generative AI Engineer to help design, build, and deploy production-ready Gen AI solutions.
This hybrid role can be based from London or Sheffield and is ideal for an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Software Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience working across Generative AI, LLMs, Python, APIs, and cloud-based AI applications.
Generative AI Engineer Role Overview
As a Generative AI Engineer, you will work on the development of practical AI solutions that use large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, automation, and intelligent search.
You will help move AI use cases from prototype into production, working closely with product teams, software engineers, data specialists, and business stakeholders.
The role will suit someone who is hands-on, commercially aware, and confident building AI-enabled applications that solve real business problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI solutions using LLMs and modern AI frameworks.
- Build applications using Python, APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, and AI agent workflows.
- Work with cloud platforms to support scalable AI deployment.
- Integrate Gen AI features into existing products, platforms, and business systems.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, vector search, embeddings, and knowledge retrieval workflows.
- Support experimentation, model evaluation, testing, monitoring, and optimisation.

- Required Skills and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning engineering, software engineering, or data-focused development.
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, or AI agents.
- Strong Python development experience.
- Experience working with APIs and integrating AI services into applications.
- Understanding of embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, and retrieval workflows.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Good understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, version control, and deployment.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
