We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Business Development Representative (BDR) to support the next stage of our growth. What we need now is an energetic BDR who can accelerate our growth through lead generation and prospecting activities that feed our sales pipeline.

About the role
As a BDR at Leighton, you will be responsible for identifying and qualifying potential enterprise customers in the software development consulting space. You\’ll work closely with our Senior Business Development Managers to generate high-quality leads and set up meetings with decision-makers.
We\’re looking for someone who is eager to learn about the challenges facing CTOs, CIOs, and software engineering teams, and who can effectively communicate how Leighton\’s services can help solve their problems.
Measuring success
The success of a BDR will be measured in four primary ways:
- Number of qualified leads generated – converting prospects into sales‑ready opportunities
- Quality of prospect meetings arranged – setting up meetings that convert to pipeline
- Activity metrics – calls made, emails sent, social touches, and prospect research completed
- Pipeline contribution – supporting the sales team to convert your leads into customers
Key responsibilities
Lead Generation & Prospecting:
- Research and identify potential enterprise customers within the software development industry
- Build targeted prospect lists using various tools and databases
- Conduct outreach via phone, email, and social media to generate interest
- Qualify prospects to determine fit and pain points before passing to senior team members
Market Research & Intelligence:
- Research prospect companies to understand their technology challenges and business needs
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitive landscape
- Gather insights about prospect organizations to personalize outreach efforts
Relationship Building:
- Initiate conversations with CIOs, CTOs, and software engineering leaders
- Build rapport and trust with prospects through consistent, value‑driven communication
- Nurture long‑term relationships with prospects not immediately ready to buy
Sales Support:
- Schedule and coordinate meetings between qualified prospects and Senior BDMs
- Prepare briefing materials and prospect intelligence for handover meetings
- Support Senior BDMs during the sales process as needed
- Maintain accurate records of all prospect interactions in CRM
Activity & Performance:
- Achieve monthly and quarterly targets for calls, emails, and meetings set
- Provide regular updates on pipeline activity and prospect status
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continuously improve skills
Learning & Development:
- Develop understanding of Leighton\’s service offerings and value proposition
- Learn about software development challenges and how consulting services solve them
- Build knowledge of sales methodologies and best practices
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- 0‑2 years of business development, sales, or customer‑facing experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong research and organizational abilities
- Comfortable making cold calls and initiating conversations with senior executives
- Resilient and persistent – able to handle rejection and bounce back quickly
- Eager to learn about technology and software development
- Self‑motivated with strong work ethic
Desirable:
- Previous experience in B2B sales or lead generation
- Basic understanding of software development or technology consulting
- Experience with CRM systems and sales tools

Organisation structure
The BDR will report to the Head of Business Development and work closely with Senior Business Development Managers. You\’ll have access to our Community Leads, Pre‑sales consultant, CRO, CTO, COO and Marketing Team to help you achieve your targets and develop your skills.
