Key responsibilities / accountabilities

  • Owning Tesco Service Model processes for Engineer Technology Products (10.3) and input into Plan & Manage Portfolio (10.1)
  • Delivering the strategic vision for Engineering, working with the Programme Directors and Product Owners to build and deliver retail leading technology for Tesco globally.
  • Responsible for overseeing the architecture, design, development and implementation of multiple software products, driving the adoption of sound architectural principles in building solutions that will be easy to maintain, adapt and enhance over time.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and management oversight for large teams of engineers involved in technical design, development and running of some of our key systems and data platforms.
  • Deep experience and belief in using modern development methodologies such as agile and dev ops, yet be comfortable and confident in leading the transition from legacy systems and methods.
  • Lead a world-class, highly motivated engineering team, dispersed against multi locations/ geography that will continually improve its products in a data-based and agile way.
  • Drive transformation, technical change and build next generation products and platforms to improve the customer experience. He/she will provide leadership for a team of developers in a complex, fast paced environment, and be able to lead the journey from legacy to simpler, more capable platforms for the future.
  • Spotting, nurturing and developing talent through coaching and mentoring.
