About SoftBank:
SoftBank Group invests in breakthrough technology to improve the quality of life for people around the world. SoftBank Group is comprised of SoftBank Group Corp. (TOKYO: 9984), an investment holding company that includes stakes in AI, smart robotics, IoT, telecommunications, internet services, and clean energy technology providers, as well as a majority stake in Arm, which is building the future of computing; and the SoftBank Vision Funds, which are investing to help transform industries and shape new ones. About the role:
SoftBank Group International is seeking two high-performing professionals for a hands-on role across the AI stack: AI infrastructure (including data centers, compute and power), physical AI and robotics, and AI applications. This is not a typical VC / growth-equity role. It combines rigorous underwriting and transaction execution with project development and hands-on, day-to-day operational responsibilities. You will assess companies, assets and strategic partnerships, and then work with management teams and partners to translate investment theses into operating outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help build and scale SoftBank Group's digital infrastructure platform, working across site development, commercial strategy, capital deployment and operational readiness.
- Evaluate and advance data center sites, development projects and operating assets across land and site control, power availability, reliability and time-to-power, fibre and network, cooling, density, resilience, permitting, sustainability, capex and schedule.
- Drive feasibility, design, development and delivery workstreams alongside in-house operators and specialist partners, taking ownership of analyses, decisions, critical paths, budgets, risks and KPIs.
- Coordinate utilities, developers, engineers, contractors, authorities, suppliers and prospective customers to secure power, permits, technical solutions, delivery plans and commercial commitments.
- Build and interrogate financial models and prepare investment committee materials, connecting technical and operating trade-offs to capex, opex, utilisation, pricing, financing, returns, sensitivities and key risks.
- Contribute directly to platform execution after investment, including procurement, supply chain, construction oversight, operating-model development, customer readiness and ramp-up.
Requirements:
- Fluent English is required. Fluency in French is beneficial, though not mandatory.
- BA/BS or equivalent with a strong academic record; engineering or another quantitative discipline is preferred.
- Typically 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in digital infrastructure, primarily data centers, gained at a developer or operator, hyperscaler or cloud provider, engineering consultancy or comparable platform.
- Hands-on exposure to one or more of site selection, power and energy, capacity planning, network, design and construction, programme management, operations or commercial strategy.
- Strong technical understanding of data center and AI infrastructure, including power, cooling, density, resilience, connectivity, deployment speed and the principal drivers of cost, schedule and operating performance.
- Strong quantitative and commercial judgement, with the ability to understand project economics and engage constructively in financial and investment analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, sound judgement, high ownership and comfort operating in ambiguity.
- Willingness to travel as projects require.
