With an in‑depth knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and luxury service, you will prepare and serve drinks with flair, professionalism, and creativity, ensuring the highest standards of hospitality in every interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a wide variety of beverages to the highest standards, including cocktails from the signature menu and bespoke guest requests.
- Deliver personalised and engaging service, building rapport with guests and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Be conversant in the use of the Micros system, following operational procedures and Sofitel’s standards of service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area at all times, following health, safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist in the creation and refinement of cocktail recipes and presentation, contributing to seasonal and signature menu development.
- Monitor inventory and restock bar supplies as required; assist in monthly stock takes.
- Process payments accurately using POS systems and follow cash handling procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the bar and floor team to ensure seamless service during all shifts.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel services and facilities, promoting them where appropriate.
- Ensure you have a thorough understanding of and adhere to laws and regulations regarding licensing, food safety, health & safety and fire regulations.
- Relate naturally and warmly with guests—genuine interaction is at the heart of the St James Bar experience, requiring flexibility and attentiveness in every aspect of service.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider bar and floor teams to ensure a seamless and high‑quality guest journey.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bartender in a high‑volume, premium, or luxury hospitality environment.
- Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and beverage service techniques.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and deliver personalised guest experiences.
- Experience using POS systems, such as Micros, including accurate payment processing and cash handling procedures.
- Strong understanding of food safety, licensing regulations, health & safety requirements, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment while maintaining high standards of presentation, attention to detail and professionalism.
