Position Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manager, HR is accountable for labour relations and day-to-day operations of human resources. The Manager, HR is a part of the Plant Management team working closely with the Plant Manager and other functional leaders to deliver on plant priorities as well as develop and implement innovative HR strategies and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
- Designs and executes HR solutions that align with plant priorities.
- Partners with Director HR Operations, Labour Relations and legal counsel for arbitrations and/or other administrative body proceedings including human rights.
- Interprets policies and CA and provides guidance to plant management.
- Manages labour relations, including counselling line management and employees to achieve resolutions.
- Prepares and attends to the grievance process.
- Recommends resolutions to grievances and/or escalation to arbitration; assists in preparation for arbitration.
- Leads investigations of issues; makes recommendations in the resolution of issues; documents all investigations and follows up on investigation outcomes.
- Identifies, develops and delivers training/communications to supervisors, lead hands and hourly employees; along with mandatory annual training.
- Interprets CA for payroll and benefits administration.
- Manages Labour/Management Meetings from scheduling; documentation to follow up of resolutions.
- Manages Attendance Management Program including administration of the program.
- Assists and prepares for CA negotiations.
- Manages recruitment and job postings for hourly vacancies and salaried plant positions.
- Manages Non-occupational Disability Program and Return to Work Program.
- Analyzes labour data and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Manages manpower and crewing guides to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Member of the local leadership team, providing HR leadership to the team.
- Participates in Plant Management meetings offering insight and solutions for human resource issues that impact the plant/business.
- Designs and develops individual development plans supporting succession planning for the plant.
- Manages the development and establishment of Sofina HR processes for the plant – for example: total rewards and talent assessment, annual performance cycle; applicable policies and practices.
- Manages the development and implementation of specific HR strategies and initiatives for the plant that support plant goals.
- Leads onboarding programs.
- Delivers management training for programs/initiatives specific to the London plant.
- Models and coaches facility leaders on Blueprint values.
- Supports Health and Safety program/initiatives.
- Implements or oversees implementation of corporate initiatives and participates in corporate meetings to identify opportunities.
- Completes tasks related to offboarding.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience with a degree in such discipline as Business, LR, HR or equivalent years of experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Labour Relations, Human Rights and Employment Standards and their application.
- Excellent at building relationships across all levels.
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures, practices and techniques used in collective bargaining and grievance negotiations.
