The Role
To perform daily duties as part of the Warehouse Team while working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, food safety legislation, and quality standards specified by our customers. Duties include operating MHEs, de‑racking, racking, picking, palletisation, loading, and general housekeeping duties. Work may vary based on volumes and may require cross‑departmental collaboration.
Hours of Work
Monday to Thursday, 42 hours per week.
- Monday: 7 pm to 3 am
- Tuesday: 7 pm to 5 am
- Wednesday & Thursday: 7 pm to 7 am
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily picking sheets distributed by the Team Leader or Shift Manager.
- Communicate any stock shortages to the Team Leader to facilitate investigations and communication with internal and external customers.
- Store any intake of product on correct racking in accordance with stock rotation procedures and product shelf‑life specifications, ensuring accurate scanning for traceability.
- Maintain health, safety, and welfare of yourself and other employees in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH regulations, and report all accidents and near‑misses.
- Respect and honour Karro ethical policies and codes of conduct when interacting with colleagues.
- Undertake stock rotation, using FIFO at all times.
- Load finished products onto vehicles as instructed.
- Assist with internal or external audits when required.
- Complete relevant paperwork such as temperature records accurately and within time specifications.
- Operate only tools, equipment, machines, or vehicles for which you have full training and fit‑to‑use sign‑off.
- Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Achieve daily departmental targets in a time‑effective manner.
- Wear correct personal protective clothing for each area and task.
- Know the qualified first aiders and first aid procedures.
- Know all fire exits and emergency evacuation procedures, and the nominated fire marshals.
- Adhere to all rules, processes, and procedures defined by Despatch, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, Health and Safety, Human Resources, and Technical teams.
- Carry out other reasonable requests from the line manager.
Ideal Candidate
- General awareness of basic food hygiene.
- Strong awareness of health and safety principles.
- Fork lift / counter‑balance licence desirable but not essential.
- Ability to communicate, understand, and follow instructions.
- Experience in a warehouse and/or picking environment.
