To lead and develop a high performing Production and Packing team, delivering operational results through strong leadership, continuous improvement, and a collaborative approach while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
This role is accountable for the overall performance of your designated production area, ensuring delivery of operational targets through effective leadership, coaching, and development of your team. Working closely with support functions and site leadership, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, challenge existing processes, and ensure production and packing operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives. You will also deputise for other Area Managers, Support Process Leaders, and the Head of Operations when required.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Operational Management
- Coach, develop, and support your team to deliver excellent operational results

- Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives across your area
- Utilise departmental KPIs to prioritise production and packing schedules and deliver operational goals
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Head of Operations and site leadership team on production and packing matters
- Support wider operational activities and undertake additional responsibilities as required
- People Management & Development
- Manage staffing levels, absence, and holiday cover within your area in line with company policies
- Work closely with HR and L&D teams to support onboarding, training, and development of colleagues
- Manage employee relations matters including absence, conduct, and performance
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and support corporate recognition programmes
- Lead the PDR process to encourage development, accountability, and high performance within the team
- Continuous Improvement
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across your area
- Drive operational excellence and support strong audit performance
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and operational performance
- Safety & Quality
- Ensure food safety, legality, and quality standards are consistently maintained
- Challenge and improve systems, processes, equipment, and ways of working
- Promote and role model safe behaviours across your area of responsibility
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and operational procedures
- Maintain high standards of quality and operational performance across the department

- Extensive experience in production and packing leadership within an FMCG environment
- Experience working within BRC standards and maintaining audit readiness
- Level 3 Food Hygiene and HACCP qualification or equivalent
- NEBOSH Certificate desirable
- Experience within chilled fish manufacturing desirable
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
