The Role

Sofina Foods is seeking a reliable and proactive Yard Operative to join our team. In this role, you will help ensure the safe storage, movement, and organisation of materials across our site. From operating forklifts and pallet trucks to managing vehicle loading/unloading and supporting stock control, you’ll play a key part in keeping our operations running smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical experience, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to work in a busy, fast‑paced environment.

Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour

Shifts: Rotating — Week 1: 5.30am–2.00pm / Week 2: 8.00am–4.30pm

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and pallet trucks safely and efficiently
  • Load and unload vehicles, ensuring materials are handled correctly
  • Store products and materials securely within designated areas
  • Transport products/materials on‑site as required
  • Work in a safe, organised manner and follow site safety protocols
  • Support inventory management and associated documentation
  • Follow Goods In & Goods Out procedures accurately
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Stores Manager

The Ideal Candidate

  • A valid Forklift Licence (essential)
  • Previous experience loading/unloading lorries
  • Knowledge of stock control and related documentation
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues, contractors, and hauliers
  • The ability to work safely with plant machinery
  • Self‑motivation, proactivity, and confidence to work unaided
  • The ability to stay organised in a very busy environment
  • Punctuality and readiness to start work on time
  • Fluency in English (essential)
