Sofidel UK is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to be based at our Papermill in Hamilton, Leicester. The successful candidate will be a proactive and reliable individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance. You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving machine performance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide first-hand intervention when there is a mechanical breakdown and assist with troubleshooting of equipment problems.
- Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards and plans.
- Check equipment and operating systems and correct wherever necessary.
- Ensure mechanical operations, standards, and controls are maintained at high quality.
- Complete maintenance care obligations and render assistance in equipment repair as necessary.
- Perform quality improvement and cost reduction and productivity as obligated.
- Oversee mechanical devices while in operation and listen for complications using accurate testing and measuring instruments.
- Take out inoperative parts by disassembling devices with the use of specific tools.
- Regulate downtime by enlightening production staff on standard preventive maintenance methods.
- Maintain records and files if requested.
- Participate in emergency on-call duty on a rotational basis and work all shifts flexibly when job demands.
- Ensure a high level of housekeeping of the working area is maintained throughout the shift.
- Ensure health & safety rules are adhered to.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Recognised apprenticeship or degree within the field of mechanical engineering/electrical engineering/engineering.
- FMCG experience.
WORKING HOURS
42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00.
