The Role: As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper hygiene products, Sofidel UK is currently recruiting for a Production Engineer to be based at our site in Rothley, Leicester. This position will serve as a technical lead in the development and continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, focusing on quality, safety, process reliability and cost efficiency.
Main Responsibilities/Duties:
- Develop and implement process improvements, monitor process capability and complete an assessment of process optimization tools & methodologies.
- Lead root cause analysis activities to solve technical, quality or safety concerns.
- Improve manufacturing capacity and cost.
- Develop and implement production trials to resolve challenges and improve finished product characteristics.
- Work with operators and process technicians to develop, improve and monitor key processes and procedures.
- Assist in writing standard work documents, operator training programs, process flow charts etc.
- Interact with Shift Leaders, Technicians, and Operators to identify and address knowledge and performance gaps.
- Lead the effort to identify, investigate, recommend and implement equipment improvements, new systems & process changes that will improve productivity, yield, and quality and/or reduce costs.
Additional requirements:
- Relevant Engineering Degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the engineering / Manufacturing industry.
- Sound engineering background.
- Experience of working in a lean manufacturing environment & culture.
- Familiarity with 5 WHY, root cause analysis and TPM.
- Knowledge of Lean methods in manufacturing processes including Six Sigma is desirable.
